AUS vs WI 3rd T20I: Russell’s stunning knock foils Australia’s clean sweep bid

The destructive knock from Andre Russell, which helped West Indies put out a massive total of 220/6 in (20) overs, denied Australia victory in the third and final T20I match on Tuesday at Optus Stadium. It was a rescue act from Russell, who scored his career-best knock of (71) off (29) against Australia, to help West Indies thrash the host by (37) runs.
Winning the toss, West Indies opted to bat first, setting an imposing target for Australia to chase. West Indies’ batting attack, led by Russell, showcased an impressive batting display, with contributions from players like Roston Chase (37) and Sherfane Rutherford (67*) respectively. This grandiose performance from West Indies gave Australian bowlers a period of harrowing moments.
Chasing the target, Australia had a daunting task before them, however, they got off to a fruitful start with veteran opener David Warner making (81) from (49) deliveries. Still, Australia's chase couldn’t be successful with players like Mitchell Marsh (17), Aaron Hardie (16) and Josh Inglis (1) losing their wickets for low scores, putting the team in jeopardy.
In the end, it was the brilliance of the West Indies bowlers that put the game in their favour. The West Indies bowlers Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd managed to stifle the Australian batsmen, restricting them to 183/5 in 20 overs. It was a well-deserved victory for West Indies in the final to close out the series optimistically.
