Mitchell Starc soars in KKR’s remarkable win
Kolkata Knight Riders raced to a 106-run win over Delhi Capitals in the 16th match of the India Premier League on Wednesday in Visakhapatnam. Starc collected two crucial wickets of his Aussie compatriots David Warner and Mitchell Starc, announcing his return to form with the ball at the Indian Premier League.
Earlier, KKR deciding to bat after winning the toss again saw ferocious Sunil Narine play an outstanding career-best knock of (85) runs, propelling the side to the second-best total in IPL history. Narine’s innings became too difficult to contain for Delhi’s seasoned bowlers Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed being hit for boundaries. The flow of runs for KKR continued with young Angkrish Raghuvanshi firing (54) off (27), and explosive Andre Russell blasting (41) off (19).
Chasing the total, KKR bowlers built early pressure on DC batters with Vaibhav Arora dismissing Prithvi Shaw, and Mitchell Starc scalping Mitchell Marsh. Abhishek Porel was undone by Vaibhav Arora for a five-ball duck, whie Starc again struck to send back dangerous David Warner. Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs had brought back little hopes, playing 55 and 54-run knocks each respectively, but Varun Chakaravarthy knocked down both batters to bowl out DC for (166) with (16) balls to go.
