IPL 2024: Narine shines as KKR move to top spot
Kolkata Knight Riders registered a humongous win over Lucknow Super Giants by (98) runs on Sunday at Ekana Sports City, moving top of the table. Big-hitting Sunil Narine continued with his skilful batting, after KKR were asked to bat, pounding LSG bowlers to score a brisk knock of (81) to lay the foundation for KKR’s formidable total.
Both KKR openers Sunil Narine and Phil Salt have been at the forefront for KKR’s massive starts. Against LSG too, both batters combined to put on (61), with Phil Salt scoring (31). Down the order, Shreyas Iyer and Ramandeep Singh scored (23) and (25*) respectively to take the team to a challenging total of 235/6 in (20) overs.
LSG, chasing the total, were bowled out for (137) runs, with KKR’s Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy sharing six wickets between them. Andre Russell claimed two wickets. For LSG, Marcus Stoinis top-scored, hammering (36) off (21), while skipper KL Rahul made (25). Other powerful batters Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni failed to make their impact.
