Colin Munro retires from international cricket
New Zealand batter Colin Munro has announced his retirement from international cricket after being omitted from New Zealand’s squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup. The veteran batter was looking forward to finding his place in NZ’s T20I World Cup squad after making himself available for selection.
However, Munro hasn’t played for New Zealand since 2020, having made his last appearance for the team in 2020. Munro, meanwhile, will continue to play franchise cricket.
"Playing for the BLACKCAPS has always been the biggest achievement in my playing career. I never felt prouder than donning that jersey, and the fact that I've been able to do that 123 times across all formats is something I will always be incredibly proud of. Although it has been a while since my last appearance, I never gave up hope that I might be able to return off the back of my franchise T20 form. With the announcement of the BLACKCAPS squad for the T20 World Cup now is the perfect time to close that chapter officially,” Munro said in a statement.
Munro has played for New Zealand in one Test, 57 ODIs and 65 T20Is. Munro in his journey with New Zealand scored over 3000 international runs.
