Gus Atkinson to miss The Hundred final, pulled out by ECB ahead of SL Tests
England pacer Gus Atkinson has been withdrawn from The Hundred tournament by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ahead of England’s Test series against Sri Lanka, beginning Wednesday.
With this, Gus Atkinson will be missing the final of the Hundred tournament. Gus Atkinson had a remarkable Test series against West Indies wherein he took 22 wickets and was named Player of the Series. In the Hundred this year, Gus Atkinson has featured only once for Oval Invincibles, registering the figures of 0 for 28 in 10 balls.
"Gus has been withdrawn, which is quite understandable. It's disappointing for him but Saqib Mahmood has been phenomenal for us all tournament and showed his class the other night. He'll stay in the side,” Oval Invincibles’ skipper Sam Billings said.
Earlier, this week England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes was also ruled out of the rest of the summer after picking up a hamstring injury while playing for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
