“I find him quite tough to bowl to”: Rohit Sharma earns high praise from Hazlewood
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has praised Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for his ability to tackle the new ball very effectively. Hazlewood’s high praise for Rohit Sharma comes ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India will travel to Australia to play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will consist of five Test matches this time around, in November. Hazlewood lauded Rohit’s ability to play the quicks really well and he also asserted that Indian skipper is never affected by the bounce.
“I remember one time India came out, he batted at 5 or 6 and then last time he opened. He's faced the new ball a lot. I feel like he plays the quicks unbelievably well. The bounce doesn't seem to worry him, the movement doesn't. He's got all the time in the world. So, I find him quite tough to bowl to," Hazlewood said on Star Sports.
Hazlewood mentioned that veteran spinner Nathan Lyon has enjoyed great success against Rohit Sharma and also stressed that it will be crucial to get him out early.
“I think ‘Gaza’ [Nathan Lyon] has had some good success against him, particularly in Australia, so it might be a case of getting him on early as well,” he said.
The hotly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin on November 22 with the first game in Perth. Currently, India are involved in a two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
