Afghanistan name squad for Champions Trophy, Hashmatullah Shahidi to lead

Afghanistan have officially named their squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, marking their debut appearance in the prestigious tournament. Hashmatullah Shahidi will be leading the side in the presence of high-class players Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid khan.  They have also named three reserve players in Darwish Rasooli, Nangyal Kharoti, and Bilal Sami. 

Meanwhile, Afghanistan will enter the blockbuster Champions Trophy on the back of their powerful performance at the ODI World Cup 2023, where they recorded victories over high-profile teams and finished as the finalists. 

Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman is missing from Afghanistan’s squad.  He played a big role in team’s performance at the ODI World Cup. 

Afghanistan squad: Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sediqullah Atal, Rahmat Shah, Ikram Alikhil, Gulbadin Naib, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, AM Ghazanfar, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Farid Malik, Naveed Zadran.

Reserves: Darwish Rasooli, Nangyal Kharoti, Bilal Sami
