England pacer Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to a toe injury, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated.

The development comes ahead of England’s must-win clash against Afghanistan, scheduled to be held on Wednesday in Lahore.

Leg-spinner Rehand Ahmed has been named his replacement and will link up with the side later this week. Carse had struggled during England’s Champions Trophy opener against Australia, returning with the figures of 69-1 from seven overs. Carse has suffered a re-currence of the injury. He also missed England’s training session on Monday.
