IPL 2025: Riyan Parag to lead Rajasthan Royals in first three games

Rajasthan Royals have appointed Riyan Parag as their skipper for the first three games of the IPL 2025, with regular skipper Sanju Samson set to play as a batter. Samson is nursing a finger injury picked up during the fifth game of the home T20I series against England earlier this year.
"I'm not completely fit for three or more games. I think there are a lot of leaders in this group. From the last few years, there have been great people who have taken care of this environment really nicely. But for the three games, Riyan will be leading. He is well capable to do it and I expect everyone to be with him and support him,” Samson said in a video posted on RR’s Instagram handle.
As for Riyan Parag, he will be serving as a leader in the IPL for the first time. He has been with RR since 2019 and was retained for INR 14 crore ahead of the mega auction last year. In the last season of IPL, he was in blazing form, firing 573 runs.
