New Zealand name squad for Pakistan ODIs

New Zealand have named their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, beginning Saturday (March 29) in Napier. New Zealand have handed maiden call-ups to the uncapped duo of Nick Kelly and Muhammad Abbas for the upcoming ODI assignment. Veteran batter Kane Williamson wasn’t selected after he made himself unavailable for the series.
Pacer Kyle Jamieson will miss the series as his workload is being managed. Meanwhile, Matt Henry will continue to remain on the sidelines, managing his right shoulder and left knee issues. Will O’Rourke, who returned for the final two T20Is against Pakistan after a break to manage his workload, will spearhead team fast-bowling attack, featuring Jacob Duffy, Nathan Smith and Ben Sears. While, Michael Bracewell, who is leading T20I side, will lead spin attack.
Many of New Zealand’s experienced players like Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, skipper Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips will miss the series due to their involvement in the ongoing Indian premier League. In the absence of Santner, Tom Latham will lead the side in ODIs.
New Zealand ODI squad: Tom Latham (c&wk), Muhammad Abbas, Adithya Ashok, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Mitch Hay (wk), Nick Kelly, Daryl Mitchell, Will O'Rourke, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith, Will Young
