“We are looking to find the formula”: CSK head coach Stephen Fleming after CSK’s defeat against DC

CSK’s head coach, Stephen Fleming, has expressed that the team is still encountering challenges in finding their best combination as they face early struggles in the 2025 IPL season. Despite having a strong squad on paper, CSK’s performance has been inconsistent, as highlighted by their third defeat of the season on Saturday. They lost to Delhi Capitals on Saturday to suffer their third defeat of the season on the trot. Speaking on the team’s defeat, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said that they are looking to find the winning formula.

“We are looking to find the formula that will get us over the line. We are certainly well aware of the chasing stat. We are focusing, bowling-wise, to restrict teams below that, but we do need to be better with the bat. We need to have one or two players in form, predominantly in the top three or four. You look at the teams that are doing well and you see that the majority of runs are getting scored through the top three or top four. A little bit more run-production there allows the power-hitters to come at the right spots. We haven’t been able to introduce players at the right time. Six to 15 to 20-run losses are annoying,” Fleming said during the press conference.

Five-time champions have found themselves under pressure early on. Their latest defeat has further added to the mounting concerns, with the team failing to build any significant momentum. Against Delhi Capitals, they failed to chase a total of 183, finishing at 158/5 in 20 overs.
