“I think it's more their bowling”: Ambati Rayudu on SRH’s poor show

The situation has become critical for Sunrisers Hyderabad after they slumped to a fourth-straight loss in the ongoing Indian Premier League on Sunday. The bottom-placed Hyderabad are fighting for survival, having only won one game in their last five encounters. Their bowlers and batters have been performing below expectations, which has triggered a series of negative outcomes for them.

Their top-order players like Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma, who were unstoppable last season, are struggling to find their rhythm. Sharing his opinion on Sunrisers’ dull show, former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu feels that their bowling is the main reason behind their downfall.

"I think it's more their bowling, I feel, than their batting. Because in the middle overs they don't have anyone who can come and pick those crucial wickets or put a team under pressure. Look at how GT has done with Sai Kishore, Rashid Khan and Prasidh Krishna. They really tightened the screws," Rayudu said on ESPNCricinfo.

"But for SRH, I don't see them really looking to pick wickets. They're just being defensive and trying to stop the batter from scoring a boundary. You can't win the IPL with mediocre middle over bowling. You need really good bowlers to pick up the wickets," said Rayudu.

Their most recent defeat came against Gujarat Titans on Sunday after they failed to defend a total of 152, with GT skipper Shubman Gill leading his side over the line with a sizzling 61-run knock. Now, after suffering a seven-wicket defeat against GT, SRH are gearing up for their next match, which is against Punjab Kings on Saturday.
