IPL 2025: Punjab blast Rajasthan in tense battle

In a tense clash on Sunday in Jaipur, Punjab Kings produced a commanding performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs, inching closer to securing a playoff berth.

Deciding to bat first, Punjab faced early trouble as their top three batters fell in quick succession, leaving them reeling in the powerplay. However, middle-order stalwart Nehal Wadhera rose to the occasion, anchoring the innings with a crucial knock of 70 runs. His timely knock laid the foundation for a recovery that was further bolstered by Shashank Singh’s 59 unbeaten. Punjab posted a total of 219/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, RR came out swinging. Young openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave them a flying start with blistering innings of 50 off 25 deliveries and 40 off 15 deliveries, respectively. However, despite the promising beginning, RR’s middle order failed to capitalise on the platform. The lack of support from the remaining batters saw them lose the momentum. They could only muster 209/5, falling 11 runs short of the target.
