England add Gus Atkinson to the squad for Lord’s Test

England have bolstered their bowling options for the third Test against India at Lord’s, recalling paceman Gus Atkinson to the squad following his hamstring recovery. Atkinson suffered a hamstring strain during the one-off Test against Zimbabwe in May, ruling him out of the subsequent assignments. India, meanwhile, turned the series on its head with a resounding 336‑run victory in the second Test, levelling the five-match battle 1–1. England named a 16-member squad for the third Test hours after their defeat to India.
Atkinson joins Jofra Archer, Sam Cook and Jamie Overton as the other fast-bowling options for England, who are expected to make a few changes heading into the third Test to bounce back quickly. The third Test will begin on Thursday.
