Tempers soar as England, India head into day 4

England and India finished locked together after an intense third day of the ongoing third Test at Lord’s on Saturday. Both teams put out identical first-innings scores of 387, with England completing their second innings at 2/0, leading by just two runs, but with all ten wickets intact as the match heads into Day 4 (Sunday).

After deciding to bat, England ruled early, posting 387 all out with Joe Root scoring a masterclass century. And a late cameo from Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith scoring half-centuries helped England hugely. India, in response, scored 387 all out as well. KL Rahul scored a major century, complemented by half-centuries from Pant (74) and Ravindra Jadeja (72).

Meanwhile, tensions flared up after England opener Zak Crawley embarked on time-wasting tactics, with just seven minutes remaining before stumps on day three. His tactics enraged Indian skipper Shubman Gill, prompting him to trade barbs with England opener. Zak Crawley started wasting time to ensure only one over would be bowled. Nonetheless, England would resume at 2/0 on day four (Sunday), with a two-run advantage and all ten wickets in hand. India, on the other hand, will aim to strike early and take control of the game.
