Suryakumar Yadav gets back to action following surgery

Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav has, as per reports, made a significant step towards recovery as he had his first batting session at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru late last week. This marked his first batting session since undergoing surgery for a sports hernia in Germany earlier this year. Yadav, who is gradually making his return to full fitness, is currently under the supervision of BCCI’s medical team.
His rehab process was meticulously planned, with an initial target set for his comeback during the T20I series against Bangladesh in August, but the series was deferred to 2026.
Meanwhile, Yadav’s workload will be carefully monitored, and it will be increased gradually due to the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, beginning September 9. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav had a fruitful season in the IPL 2025, slamming 717 runs, including five half-centuries. Suryakumar Yadav took over as India’s T20I captain last year, after Rohit Sharma retired from the format following the T20I World Cup triumph in Barbados.
