"He has been replying, talking to everyone": Suryakumar Yadav gives update on injured Shreyas Iyer

Ahead of India's first T20I match against Australia, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has provided a significant update on injured Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from a serious injury sustained during the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney on Sunday.
Iyer, who was positioned at backward point, took a difficult catch to send back Alex Carey. However, during the process he sustained a horrible injury, putting him in hospital in Sydney. Iyer, while taking the catch, landed awkwardly on his left side, hurting his ribcage, and looked in visible pain. He was escorted off the field and did not take any further part in that innings.
"The first day, when I got to know that he was injured, I called him. I got to know that he did not have his phone. So, I called the physio, and he told me that he was stable. On day one you cannot be sure of anything. But I have been talking to him over the last two days, and he has been replying on the phone. If he is replying on the phone, that means he is stable. And doctors are with him. He is looking good. Everything is normal. He has been replying, talking to everyone. But he will be under supervision for the next few days," Suryakumar Yadav said ahead of the opening T20I.
Meanwhile, India will face Australia in the first T20I of the five-match series on Wednesday at Manuka Oval. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the squad that featured a whole host of young stars.
Indian squad: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill (vc), Tilak Varma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Washington Sundar.
