"Kudos to them": SA skipper Temba Bavuma after the loss to Netherlands
In one of the most classical wins for Netherlands over South Africa in the World Cup on Tuesday proved that no team is to be underestimated in the game of cricket because the game of cricket throws many surprises at every moment. It was the biggest upset for South Africa to suffer 38-run defeat against Netherlands. Before this defeat, South Africa were high on confidence with their back-to-back wins against big teams but this defeat would make them rethink their strategy considering that there’s a long way to go. South Africa’s batting lineup entirely came to a standstill with Netherlands bowler making their dominance. Speaking during the post-match presentation, SA skipper Temba Bavuma noted that they shouldn’t have allowed Netherlands to go beyond (200).
“We definitely dropped the ball there letting them get to 240-plus. With the batting, we were still confident in chasing down that score but we didn’t get any partnerships. Them with their double-spin in the power play, was something we did not adapt to. Kudos to them, the way they were able to exploit certain weaknesses within our game,” said Bavuma.
Netherlands were put into bat as they got to a fighting total of (245) with Scott Edwards hammering 78-run score unbeaten. The match had been cut down to (43) overs due to rain. South Africa were unsuccessful in chasing the total as they were bowled out for (207).
