Rashid Khan pulls out of BBL 13 with back injury
In a big blow to Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL), Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan has pulled out of the tournament due to the back injury that will be requiring him to undergo surgery. Rashid Khan becomes the second player after England batter Harry Brook to withdraw from Big bash League (BBL). Earlier, this month Harry Brook had cited workload management behind withdrawing from BBL.
“Rashid is a beloved member of the strikers and a fan favourite who has been with us for seven years, so he will be extremely missed this summer,” General Manager of Strikers Tim Nielsen said.
“Rashid loves Adelaide and the Strikers, and we know how much he loves playing in the BBL, and we support him as he has treatment for this injury to ensure his long-term involvement in the game.”
Adelaide Strikers haven’t yet named the replacement for Rashid Khan. Rashid Khan made his BBL debut in 2017 as he has played 69 matches where he has been able to pick 98 wickets. Recently, Rashid Khan was involved in the Afghanistan’s World Cup campaign in India where his team made a remarkable impact with their victories against solid teams.
