However, The Australian batter Oliver Peake, displaying exceptional composure, overcame Pakistan’s bowling attack with his 49-run score. With the help of tiny cameos down the order, Australia went past the target in 49.1 overs to register their victory.
Earlier, asked to bat, Pakistan maintained a steady start with Azan Awais and Arafat Minhas slamming their half-centuries to set a modest total of 179 for Australia. These two batters were the top-scorer for Pakistan, providing the much needed stability to the team that they needed after losing their excellent players early on in the innings.
Australian bowler Tom Straker set the challenging conditions for Pakistan applying relentless pressure, restricting Pakistan to a below par total. He returned with six pivotal wickets, crippling Pakistan squarely. Australia will now meet India in the final on Sunday at the same venue.
