WPL 2024: All you need to know, squads, teams, players
The much-anticipated second edition of the Women Premier League (WPL) will be kicked off from 23rd of February, promising another thrilling season of women's cricket. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will start the tournament by taking on runner-up Delhi Capitals in the opening match of the tournament.
A total of five teams are participating in the tournament, namely Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. A total of 22 games will be played this year as well with each team playing other four twice. Unlike, previous year, where the entire tournament was held in Mumbai, this year the tournament matches will be played in Bengaluru and Delhi as well.
The Eliminator and the final will be played on March 15 and 17 respectively. All matches are scheduled to start at 7:30 PM (IST).
As far as captains are concerned, Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading (Mumbai Indians), Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals), Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz) and Beth Mooney (Gujarat Giants).
