IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings, head-to-head, playing XI

Friday, 22-Mar-2024
News

Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings are gearing up to face each other in their first match of the 17th season of Indian Premier League on Saturday at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur in Chandigarh.

Delhi Capitals, under the leadership of seasoned campaigner Rishabh Pant, would look forward to turning around the tables, having failed badly during the last season. In 2023, Delhi Capitals had an agonisingly poor campaign, capping off the tournament with their position at the bottom in points table.

Adding insult to the injury was the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant who missed the entire tournament after suffering life-threatening injuries during the car crash incident in December 2022.

With the return of Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals would be strengthened and hope to start their campaign on a blistering note. DC would aim to set the early momentum and capitalise on that moving ahead in the tournament. In a seesawing IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals closed out their campaign on a disappointing note.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings, led by Shikhar Dhawan, also had a saddening campaign, after they finished the tournament with 6 victories from 14 games. They lost eight games, failing to maintain their continuity in their performance.

Heading into the IPL 2024, Punjab Kings will be determined to turn their fortunes around. With a revamped squad and renewed vigour, the Kings will be aiming to make a strong statement right from the start.
