Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has expressed his optimism about pacer Haris Rauf returning to full fitness ahead of the T20I World Cup. Fast bowler Haris Rauf has been on the sidelines since sustaining a shoulder injury during the PSL 2024 in late February.

Pakistan are set to tour Ireland and England for the T20I assignments in what would be their last preparatory assignments ahead of the T20 showpiece in West Indies and USA in June. Rauf returned to Pakistan side after being included in an 18-member squad for the Ireland and England series.

In recent times, Pakistan have been hit by injuries to their players Mohammad Rizwan, Irfan Khan and Azam Khan as they race against time to be fully ready for the World Cup. Recently, Pakistan played a five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home.

"Haris Rauf's fitness is much improved. I wasn't expecting him to recover so fast. There's pressure on him because there's been a lot of talk about his injury, and how will he respond but I think he'll come back strong. When you give yourself proper rest mentally and physically, you can create a different impact,” Babar said during the press conference.
