IPL 2024: Rajasthan pitted against Bengaluru in the Eliminator after washout against KKR
Rajasthan Royals have secured third position in the points table following a washout against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday in the 70th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Rain didn’t allow the action to get underway after Kolkata Knight Riders opted to field upon winning the toss.
Already on a four-match losing streak, Royals' hopes to finish in top-two were shattered with persistent downpour. Meanwhile, they finished the league stage with 17 points. With this, Rajasthan Royals will face on a roll Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator on 22nd May. RCB, who have been on a six-match winning streak, stormed into the playoffs on the back of a win against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
Things will now take a different turn in the cash-rich league where four teams, having qualified for the playoffs, will compete for the coveted title. KKR topping the points table have been exceptional during this season and will take on SRH, who finished second in the points table with a four-wicket victory against Punjab Kings in their last-league game on Sunday, in the qualifier 1 on Tuesday. The winner of the qualifier 1 will be guaranteed a place in the final. However, the loser will still get another shot in the qualifier 2.
