Rahul Dravid to be named Rajasthan Royals’ head coach ahead of IPL 2025
Former Indian head coach Rahul Dravid is reportedly set to take the reins at the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Rahul Dravid will return to his first coaching role since his term with team India as head coach came to an end at the end of T20I World Cup 2024 in June.
Rahul Dravid, who oversaw India’s victory at the T20I World Cup 2024, had decided not to apply for the post again. According to ESPNcricinfo, Dravid has sealed a deal with Rajasthan Royals. Rahul Dravid’s association with Rajasthan Riyals goes long back as he captained the franchise in 2012 and 2013 and also served as a mentor in 2014 and 2015.
Dravid, in 2016, moved to Delhi Capitals and remained there until he became the head of the National Cricket Academy. In 2021, Rahul Dravid took over from Ravi Shastri as the head coach of Indian men’s cricket team. Currently, Rahul Dravid remains on a much-needed short break and will soon embark on a new career with the franchise.
Kumar Sangakkara, who has been Royals’ Director of Cricket since 2021, will continue to hold his position. At Rajasthan Royals, Rahul Dravid will link up with skipper Sanju Samson.
