Tim David eyes World Cup with maiden ODI call up
Australia’s Young Tim David, widely known to have great batting skills in the shorter format of the games, was drafted into Australia’s ODI squad for the five-match ODI series against South Africa. Tim David’s presence in the squad provides Australia with the extra middle-order option. Tim David rose to the occasion when he scored 64 off 28 to provide Australia with the biggest boost. Tim David’s innings included seven fours and four towering sixes.
Tim David hasn’t played any ODI match before as this inclusion of him into the ODIs against South Africa puts into contention for the ODI World Cup. David’s record in the shorter format has been impressive with his (804) runs with the strike rate of 163.41.
“Tim is already here for the T20 series which offers an opportunity to see how his game can translate to the one-day format. He will provide an extra option for us in that power role at the back end of an innings,” Australian selector Tony Dodemaide said.
