BBL 2023-24: Bisbane Heat beat Sydney Thunder to record their second consecutive win
Brisbane Heat registered their second victory in the ongoing Big Bash League tournament on Tuesday at Manuka Oval by beating Sydney Thunder by (20) runs. Defending the total of (151), Brisbane Heat bundled out Sydney Thunder for (131) in (19) overs. Xavier Bartlett returned with three wickets while Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann and Paul Walter returned with two wickets each to wrap up Sydney Thunder as quickly as possible. Asked to bat, Brisbane Heat scored (151) on the back of collective efforts coming in from their top-order batters. Colin Munro and Nathan McSwweeney scored (46) and (29) to give the side a base in their innings. Handy knocks from Matt Renshaw (20) and Sam Billings (23) helped the team get to a good total. Sydney Thunder, in their chase, lost two of their solid players Alex Hales (0) and Matthew Gilkes (3) for the worst scores. Cameron Bancroft scored (25) runs while opening the innings for the team. Oliver Davies led some fightback with his (35) runs but couldn’t be sufficient as they went on to lose their wickets in quick succession.
